Z IR Antimicrobial Window Films (SARS-CoV-2 Resistance)

Using our antimicrobial face-shield technology, FILMTACK has developed ultrathin nano-islands coating on window film surface to offer protection against SARS-CoV-2 virus (lab tested).

Research has shown that this specially-coated surface can offer lasting protection from bacteria, including common bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, E. Coli, etc. The advanced coating also contains antiviral technology which reduces the survivability of SARS-CoV-2 virus on glass surfaces in 24 hours. It is suitable for use in hygiene conscious environments where clean-ability, scratch resistance, and the transfer of microbes is a concern.

Technical Information

Z IR is a window film with an ultrathin antimicrobial coating on the surface. While the product feels smooth to the human skin, the surface is a nano-islands structure when superimposed. These nano-islands are a durable and stable coating that creates a hostile environment to the microbes and viruses.

Z IR is a high heat-reduction window film, lab-tested to provide an average of 32% reduction (up to 62%) of SARS-CoV-2 on glass surfaces after 24hours. In many countries, the SARS-CoV-2 virus is categized at biohazard level 3 and above, available for public commercial testing until recently. Many non-medical, commercial claims of efficacy against coronavirus, are either tested with pre-2019 strains, animal coronavirus, or the surrogate Murine Hepatitis virus to demonstrate the antiviral efficacy of this technology against a member of the coronavirus family.

The antiviral efficacy against SARS-CoV-2 virus is tested under internationally-recognized ISO 21702:2019 standards; it demonstrated the capability of the coating to inhibit the growth and survival of SARS-COV-2. ISO 21702:2019 refers to testing of measurement of antiviral activity on plastics and other non-porous surfaces.
